Elemendorf Tear Tester SL-F05
Elemendorf Tear Tester The tearing strength of fabrics, papers, plastic films, or other similar materials is determined by measurement of the work done in tearing through a fixed length of the test specimen using Elemendorf Tear Tester. The Elemendorf Tear Tester consists of a brass sector pendulum pivoted on anti-friction ball bearings on a vertical bracket fixed on a rigid metallic base. The test specimen is in shape of a rectangle and is held between two clamps, one of which is mounted on the pendulum and the other is mounted on the vertical bracket. The clamps are mounted in such a manner that their holding faces are aligned with each other when the pendulum is locked in its raised position. The pendulum is released by lifting the release lever. This action causes the test specimen to tear right through. The tearing strength is indicated on a scale fitted on the pendulum against a low friction pointer pivoted on the same axis as the pendulum. An adjustable knife is mounted on the bracket on which the pendulum and the fixed clamp is mounted. The blade is located between the two clamps and is used for making the initial slit in the test specimen. A brass check weight is supplied with the tester for verification of its calibration. The apparatus is finished in blackmalt finish and bright chrome plating to give it a corrosion resistant finish. Augmenting weights for increasing the capacity of the tester are available as optional accessories. For testing of low strength materials, multiple specimens may be mounted at the same time. Vertical Flammability Tester SL-F15
Vertical Flammability Tester Flammability of fabrics may be determined by igniting one end of fabric under test by mean of a suitable burner having a specified flame intensity and determining the extend of propagation of flame and the time taken by the flame to propagate between two marked levels. In the vertical strip flammability tester, a test specimen cut from the fabric under test is suspended vertically inside an enclosure and the flame from a Bunsen burner is applied at its bottom edge. The time taken by the flame to propagate between two specified marks is then determined from which the numerical rating of flame resistance property found. This method is suitable for all fabrics which are in form of sheets or can be converted by cutting into sheets. Flammability Tester for fabrics consists of a vertical sheet metal cabinet closed on three sides and top and bottom. The front side is kept open for insertion of the test specimen. The test specimen is suspended from a clip such that it hangs freely in the center of the cabinet. Two marker wires are fixed behind the fabric under test such that they are located 28 cm and 155 cm below the clip. A removable auxiliary clip is also provided to enable shorter specimens of flame resistant fabrics to be tested. A bunsen burner of 9.5 mm diameter opening is placed in the lower half of the cabinet and can be moved on two guide rods to enable it to be brought vertically below the free end of the test specimen. A flexible pipe line with a needle valve is provided to control the flame height. Perspirometer SL-Fll
Perspirometer Colour Fastness of dyed or printed fabrics against perspiration is determined by exposing the fabric sample to the action of both alkaline and acidic reagents while in contact with undyed adjacent fabrics is placed between plastic plates under a fixed load inside an oven maintained at 370 centigrade. The apparatus used for this test is called the Perspirometer. consists of a number of acrylic plates and which can be kept in suitable loading frame. The loading frame consists of two steel plates between which the acrylic plates placed. The test specimen are stitched between suitable white cloth pieces and dipped in either alkaline or acidic test solutions. The composite sample is placed in between any two acrylic plates. A number of test specimens can be loaded simultaneously between different sets of acrylic plates by stacking them one above the other. Loading is done by keeping a standard dead weight on top of the upper plate assembly, which consists of two parallel plates separated by suitable compensating springs. The guide rod attached to top plate of this assembly is locked while under load and the load removed. The springs compensate for subsequent variations in load due to variation in thickness of the test specimens on drying. The test is continued for the required time under the specified condition of temperature. After this the samples are removed from the frame and dried. The degree of staining of the while pieces of cloths and change in colour of the test specimens are evaluated using Grey Scales and compared against standard rating cards. All the components are made of stainless steel and are finished in black stoving enamel paint to give them a corrosion resistant finish. Rotawash Washing Fastness Tester SL-F09
Rotawash Washing Fastness Tester is used for determining colour fastness of textile materials to washings. This is attained by mechanically agitating a specimen of textile in contact with pieces of specified adjacent fabrics in a soap □ soda solution. Before being rinsing and dried. The change in colour of specimen and stains of the adjacent fabrics are assessed with standard Grey Scale. WASHING FASTNESS TESTER’ consists of a thermostatically controlled, electrically heated water bath made of Stainless Steel. The bath is heated by means of immersion heaters and its temperature controlled by a capillary type thermostat. The temperature of water inside the bath is displayed on a digital temperature indicator. The bath has a double walled hinged lid made of stainless steel sheets. The jars in which the test solution and the test specimens are kept during the test are made from stainless steel and are provided with rubber scales for water tight closing. They are held in a cast stainless steel rotor assembly mounted on a stainless steel shaft at the center of the bath and rotating about a horizontal axis with the help of a geared Motor. A clockwork timer is provided to stop the motor after a pre-determined time. The apparatus is fabricated on a sturdy angle iron frame and is completely enclosed on all four sides with mild steel sheet duly enameled in metallic green paint. The top of the apparatus is covered with stainless steel sheet. One hundred stainless steel balls of 6 mm diameter are supplied with the apparatus as standard accessory for providing beating action during the washing operation. Extra stainless steel balls and standard Grey Scales are available as optional accessory.
