What Is Pollen?
Pollen is the male seed of flowers. It is required for the fertilization of the plant. The tiny particles consist of 50/1,000-millimeter corpuscles, formed at the free end of the stamen in the heart of the blossom. Every variety of flower in the universe puts forth a dusting of pollen. Many orchard fruits and agricultural food crops do, too.
Bee pollen is the food of the young bee and it is approximately 40% protein. It is considered one of nature's most completely nourishing foods. It contains nearly all nutrients required by humans. About half of its protein is in the form of free amino acids that are ready to be sued directly by the body. Such highly assimilable protein can contribute significantly to one's protein needs.
Gathering pollen is not as easy as it sounds. Once a honeybee arrives at a flower, she settles herself in and nimbly scrapes off the powdery loose pollen from the stamen with her jaws and front legs, moistening it with a dab of the honey she brought with her from the hive. The enlarged and broadened tarsal segments of her legs have a thick trimming of bristles, called pollen combs. The bee uses these combs to brush the gold powder from her coat and legs in mid-flight. With a skillful pressing movement of her auricle, which is used as a hammer, she pushes the gathered gold into her baskets. Her pollen baskets, surrounded by a fringe of long hairs, are simply concave areas located on the outside of her tibias. When the bee's baskets are fully loaded, the microscopic golden dust has been tamped down into a single golden grain, or granule.
One of the most interesting facts about bee pollen is that it cannot be synthesized in a laboratory. When researchers take away a bee's pollen-filled comb and feed her manmade pollen, the bee dies even though all the known nutrients are present in the lab-produced synthesized food. Many thousands of chemical analyses of bee pollen have been made with the very latest diagnostic equipment, but there are still some elements present in bee pollen that science cannot identify. The bees add some mysterious "extra" of their own. These unidentifiable elements may very well be the reason bee pollen works so spectacularly against so many diverse conditions of ill health.
Honeybees do double duty. They are programmed to gather pollen and carry it back to the hive as food for the colony. However, even more important as far as humans are concerned, they are also responsible for the pollination of more than 80 percent of green growing things. As bees buzz from blossom to blossom, microscopic pollen particles coat their stubby little bodies so densely that they sometimes look like little yellow fuzz balls. When they arrive at the next flower, a portion of the live golden dust is transferred to that blossom and pollination is accomplished.
It is important to recognize that a one teaspoon dose of pollen takes one bee working eight hours a day for one month to gather. Each bee pollen pellet, contains over two million flower pollen grains and one teaspoonful contains over 2.5 billion grains of flower pollen.
Complete Nutrition
Bee pollen contains all the essential components of life. The percentage of rejuvenating elements in bee pollen remarkably exceeds those present in brewer's yeast and wheat germ. Bee pollen corrects the deficient or unbalanced nutrition, common in the customs of our present-day civilization of consuming incomplete foods, often with added chemical ingredients, which expose us to physiological problems as various as they are numerous.
Pollen is considered an energy and nutritive tonic in Chinese medicine. Cultures throughout the world use it in a surprising number of applications: for improving endurance and vitality, extending longevity, aiding recovery from chronic illness, adding weight during convalescence, reducing cravings and addictions, regulating the intestines, building new blood, preventing infectious diseases such as the cold and flue (it has antibiotic type properties), and helping overcome retardation and other developmental problems in children. It is thought to protect against radiation and to have anti-cancer qualities.
Nutrient deficiencies and all the health problems they cause are recognized worldwide as a growing problem. Because bee pollen contains all the nutrients needed to sustain life, it is being used on an ever larger scale for human nourishment and health. Science teaches that bee pollen contains many substances that combine to make it a healthy, nutritious, complete food. There are numerous reports from medical experience that conclusively show the benefits of bee pollen exceed that of a simple food item. And the bees do most of the work.
Bee-gathered pollens are rich in proteins, free amino acids, vitamins, including B-complex, and folic acid.
According to researchers at the Institute of Apiculture, Taranov, Russia, "Honeybee pollen is the richest source of vitamins found in Nature in a single food. Even if bee pollen had none of its other vital ingredients, its content of rutin alone would justify taking at least a teaspoon daily, if for no other reason than strengthening the capillaries. Pollen is extremely rich in rutin and may have the highest content of any source, plus it provides a high content of the nucleics RNA [ribonucleic acid] and DNA [deoxyribonucleic acid]."
Bee pollen is a complete food and contains many elements that products of animal origin do not possess. Bee pollen is more rich in proteins than any animal source. It contains more amino acids than beef, eggs, or cheese of equal weight. Bee pollen is particularly concentrated in all elements necessary for life.

1. Where grown:
Bitter melon grows in tropical areas, including parts of East Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, and South America, where it is used as a food as well as a medicine.
2. Parts used:
Fruit.
3. Supportive:
4. Diabetes
5. HIV
6. Psoriasis
7. Historical Usage:Being a relatively common food item, bitter melon was traditionally used for a dazzling array of conditions by people in tropical regions. Numerous infections, cancer, and diabetes are among the most common conditions it was purported to improve. The leaves and fruit have both been used occasionally to make teas and beer or to season soups in the Western world. The berries also produce wax, which can be made into candles.
8. Active Ingredinets: At least there are three different groups of constituents in bitter melon have been reported to have hypoglycemic (blood sugar lowering) or other actions of potential benefit in diabetes mellitus. These include a mixture of steroidal saponins known as charantin, insulin-like peptides, and alkaloids. It is still unclear which of these is most effective, or if all three work together. Two proteins, known as alpha- and beta-momorcharin inhibit the AIDS virus, but this research has only been demonstrated in test tubes and not in humans. An as yet unidentified constituent in bitter melon inhibits the enzyme guanylate cyclase, an act that may benefit people with psoriasis.

Overview
Eleuthero, which is known in the United States as Siberian ginseng, has been used for centuries in China and Russia. Although a distant relative of Am
erican and Asian ginsengs (Panax sp.), with some overlap in its uses, Siberian ginseng is a distinct plant with different active chemical components. Prized for its ability to restore vigor, increase longevity, enhance overall health, and stimulate both a healthy appetite and a good memory, it is widely used in Russia to help the body adapt to stressful conditions and to enhance productivity.
In Chinese medicine, it is valued for its beneficial effects on "qi" and its ability to treat "yang" deficiency in the spleen and kidney. Like the panax ginsengs, Siberian ginseng is considered to be an adaptogen, which means that it helps in stressful circumstances and also helps return the body to a normal balance. So, for example, an adaptogen might lower blood pressure in someone who has high blood pressure, but raise it in another person who has low blood pressure. The active ingredients in Siberian ginseng, eleutherosides (similar to ginsenosides in the panax species), are thought to increase stamina and to stimulate the immune system.
Until recently, most scientific research on Siberian ginseng took place in Russia. This research has largely supported its use to maintain health and strengthen the system rather than to treat particular disorders. Siberian ginseng may help the body deal with physically and mentally stressful exposures such as heat, cold, physical exhaustion, viruses, bacteria, chemicals, extreme working conditions, noise, and pollution. By strengthening the system, it may also help prevent illness.
Research on Siberian ginseng has included studies on the following:
Immune System
A 4-week study in healthy subjects found that those who received Siberian ginseng extract had improvements in a number of measures that reflect the functioning of the immune system.
Mental Performance
A 3-month human study of Siberian ginseng among middle aged volunteers found that there was a significant improvement in memory and concentration as compared to placebo.
Another popular but unproven use of Siberian ginseng is to maintain or restore mental alertness.
Physical Performance
Although Siberian ginseng is frequently used to enhance physical stamina and increase muscle strength, studies have shown mixed results for these purposes.
Male Fertility
Siberian ginseng has a long history of folkloric use for male infertility. Animal studies suggest that Siberian ginseng may be helpful in increasing reproductive capacity.
Viral Infection
In a laboratory study, an extract of Siberian ginseng slowed the replication of certain viruses, including influenza A (which causes the flu) as well as human rhinovirus and respiratory syncytial virus (both of which cause symptoms of the common cold). It had no effect, however, in test tubes on adenovirus (another cause of the common cold and other respiratory infections) or herpes simplex virus type 1 (which generally causes oral herpes lesions). But, a 6-month study of 93 people with herpes simplex virus type 2 (which generally causes genital herpes lesions) found that Siberian ginseng reduced frequency, severity, and duration of outbreaks. Talk to your doctor about whether it is safe or appropriate for you to use Siberian ginseng to try to prevent herpes outbreaks.

Legend has it that yarrow (Achillea millefolium) was named after Achilles, the Greek mythical figure who used it to stop the bleeding wounds of his soldiers. Popular in European folk medicine, yarrow has traditionally been used to treat wounds, menstrual ailments, and bleeding hemorrhoids. Its traditional uses also include the treatment of fevers and colds, and relief of stomach and intestinal upset.
________________________________________
Plant Description
Yarrow, a member of the Asteraceae family, is closely related to the chamomiles. It flourishes in a sunny and warm habitat, and is frequently found in meadows and along roadsides, as well as on dry, sunny slopes. It grows as a simple, erect, and hairy stem that can reach a height of 5 feet. The entire plant (with the exception of the fruit) is draped in white, silky hairs. Yarrow grows from runners as tough, angular, horizontal stems that bear flowers.
Yarrow blooms between June and September. The flowers are typically white, but either pink or pale purple flowers are common in mountain areas. The petals are densely arranged in flattened clusters, and the leaves look like feathers.
________________________________________
Parts Used
The whole herb, or above-ground parts, of the yarrow plant are used for medicinal purposes. This includes flowers, leaves, and stems. Yarrow grows in the wild and is collected for medicinal uses while it is in bloom.
________________________________________
Medicinal Uses and Indications
There has been very little research on yarrow's medicinal properties. One study examining the effects of a three-herb mouthwash (yarrow, juniper, nettle) showed it to be ineffective in treating gum inflammation or the build-up of plaque. Even though there have been no studies focused uniquely on yarrow and how it affects people, clinical experience (and in some cases animal or laboratory studies) supports the use of yarrow for the following purposes:
・ Loss of appetite
・ Digestive complaints
・ To increase urine flow
・ Liver and gallbladder conditions
・ Menstrual irregularities
・ Menstrual cramps and pain
・ Muscle spasms
・ Inflammation
・ To fight infection
・ Fever (brings temperature down by promoting perspiration)
・ To reduce bleeding
・ Wound healing

Basic Information of Garlic Extract (100:1) (odorless)
What Is Garlic 100:1 Extract ?
Garlic (Allium sativum), has been used nutritionally throughout history to support the cardiovascular system. Our garlic extract have a highly concentrated, 100:1 extract of aged odorless garlic, providing scordinin, allicin compound as well as alliin.
Uses For Garlic 100:1 extract
Cardiovascular Support: Positive effects of garlic on the cardiovascular system include healthy blood flow and platelet function, healthy lipid and triglyceride metabolism, reduced oxidative stress, and healthy arterial function.
Immune System Support: Garlic has also demonstrated support for maintaining a healthy gut ecology and promoting healthy immune system function.
Overview
Garlic has long been consumed by human worldwide. Only modern studies have revealed its many health benefits including the maintenance of cardiovascular and heart health and the reduction of cholesterol levels.?However, you may not know that garlic's benefits are most lost in our normal way of preparation.
Only the specially made garlic extract can give all the health benefits.
Garlic Health Benefits
Many clinical trials have been conducted by researchers in USA and Europe to evaluate the medicinal use of garlic such as in cholesterol control. In a meta analysis of garlic clinical trials, for treating hypercholesterolemia, 13 randomized, placebo-controlled, and double-blind trials were identified. The analysis revealed that all but three trials showed that garlic is significantly superior to placebo in the reduction of total cholesterol levels. When all trials are pooled together, a significant reduction in total cholesterol levels is found in patients taking garlic. The level of reduction in total cholesterol is on average at 15.7 mg/dL (200 mg/dL is the point considered to be high cholesterol). The same analysis does not find garlic makes any significant reduction in low-density lipoprotein (LDL, bad) cholesterol levels and any significant increase in high-density lipoprotein (HDL, good) cholesterol levels.
The total cholesterol reduction by garlic is modest compared to the cholesterol drugs like lipitor. However, the mild action, the safety, and the very low cost of garlic extracts as a dietary supplement make it ideal for people to consume daily to maintain healthy levels of cholesterol.
Active Ingredients
Research on garlic showed the garlic ingredients responsible for its health benefits are allicin. However, allicin is found only in very small amounts in fresh garlic cloves. When garlic is crushed in food preparation and exposed to water, much more allicin is produced by an enzyme in garlic that converts alliin to allicin and gives the odor. Allicin is unfortunately very short lived and quickly degraded.
Therefore, normal garlic preparation does not retain the allicin activity. Various forms of garlic, which contain no allicin (e.g., cooked, steamed, microwaved and aged garlic extract), have demonstrated an array of benefits in studies. Therefore, it is logical that compounds other than allicin are responsible for such benefits. To date, well over 100 compounds have been identified in garlic preparations.
Presently, S-allyl cysteine appears to be a very promising compound with good absorption.
The pharmacokinetic studies of S-allyl cysteine demonstrated rapid absorption and almost 100% bioavailability after oral administration. In addition, since both the safety and effectiveness of S-allyl cysteine have been reported, this compound appears to play an important role in garlic's medicinal effects.
Garlic fresh bulb can be made to dry powder and tablets without converting alliin to allicin by special processes. The tablets can be further enteric coated so that alliin will only be converted to allicin in the intestines but not in the mouth, which ensures that allicin is produced where it is absorbed and functional and that no odor will occur in the mouth. Such garlic extracts are what researchers have used in the garlic clinical trials. The standard garlic extracts are about 3 times concentrated from fresh cloves and the potential to generate allicin vary but most commonly is at 1%.

What is Hoodia? Nopal Opuntia
Hoodia is a succulent plant found in the Kalahari desert of South Africa. The genus encompasses a number of varieties of plant of which Hoodia gordonii is one species. Hoodia plants are succulents, not cacti, although they do have a spiny appearance similar to cacti
How has Hoodia gordonii been used in the past?
For many centuries the San bushmen of the Kalahari desert have used Hoodia plants as a food. The species Hoodia gordonii was less often used because of its lingering bitter taste being considered unpleasant. However, in times of hardship, or being away from familiar areas, it was sometimes eaten.
How did the CSIR's research into Hoodia gordonii commence?
Due to the tradition of food use of Hoodia plants, certain species were included in a scientific research project established by the South African statutory council known as CSIR (Council for Scientific and Industrial Research) to screen a large number of bush foods. As part of the screening process, extracts of plants were made and tested for toxic effects. Surprisingly, it was observed that the Hoodia extracts caused a decrease in appetite and body weight in animals that did not appear to be due to a direct toxic effect of the extract.

Dried honey is honey that has been dehydrated and mixed with other ingredients to keep it free-flowing. Honey powder is more convenient than liquid honey in prolonged storage and mixing in dry mixes.
The powder is 70 percent honey. Seventy percent honey powder has about the same sweetness level as sucrose sugar (regular cane table sugar). In many recipes it can be used as an equal replacement for liquid honey with good results. In place of honey, use 3/4 parts honey power and 1/4 part water

Description: Natural Order, Scrophulariaceae. This is the tall mullein common to roadsides, pastures, and other trodden grassy lands. Radical leaves very large, oval, rounded at the apex, lying upon the ground; stem leaves alternate, gradually decreasing in size, and descending along the stem so as to give it a winged appearance; all gray or yellowish-green from the dense layer of stellate wool with which they are covered. Stem three to six feet high, rising erect and unbranched in the midst of the radical leaves, an inch or more in diameter, woolly.
Flowers sessile, in a raceme along the upper portion of the stem for many inches; calyx five-parted; corolla open, wheel-shaped, five-parted, yellow, half an inch in diameter.
Properties and Uses: The leaves of this coarse-looking plant are relaxant, with a trace of tonic property. Their action is quite soothing, and moderately antispasmodic; and an infusion is a deservedly popular remedy in sub-acute dysentery and diarrhea, probably from their action on the lacteals. They have been commended in catarrhal coughs, spitting of blood, and piles. I would particularly call the attention of the profession to their peculiar and reliable power over the absorbent system, to which they seem a specific relaxant; and their power in promoting absorption in cellular dropsy, chronic abscesses, pleuritic effusions, and similar accumulations of fluid, is truly remarkable. For these purposes, the better method is to make a strong decoction of the leaves, and wilt other leaves in this and bind them over the part. They may be employed to similar purpose in synovial dropsy, and scrofulous and other swellings; though it is not proper to use them on carbuncles, buboes, cancers, and other swellings from which it would be injurious to have a deposit absorbed.
A strong decoction (especially of the roots) may be used inwardly at the same time; and if tonics and some capsicum be added to this, such an outward and inward use of the article is of great value in all forms of dropsy, including abdominal and ovarian. Only a few articles of the Materia Medica exert a decided influence on the absorbents, and the mullein is one of the most reliable of these; though its prominent relaxing character often calls for the association of some diffusive stimulus, especially of sassafras and polemonium. While promoting absorption, it is a most positive anodyne; and relieves the suffering of chronic abscesses, tendonous and synovial swellings, etc.
I have known a fomentation of the leaves speedily to allay the intense pain of a cancer, though mischief subsequently resulted from the application; but this fact points to the great power this agent must exert over the nervous system, and suggests a wide field in which to investigate its uses. J. Weeks, M. D., of Mechanicsburg, Ind., tells me that a fomentation of the leaves at night, applied over the chest, gives great relief to pectoral distress in old coughs, and improves the lungs rapidly. He also says that a tincture of the stem with the flowers on, is excellent in painful and debilitated coughs, asthma, etc. I have found some advantage in using a strong ointment, made from the extract, upon scrofulous swellings; though the leaves are preferable. Some use fomentations of the leaves in mumps, piles, white swellings, etc. The article certainly deserves the first attention for its powers as an innocent anodyne and promoter of absorption. Its relaxing taste is sometimes unpleasant to the stomach, and cummin or coriander may be used as an adjuvant.
For internal uses, an ounce may be boiled in a quart of milk for diarrhea and dysentery, and used freely every hour or two; or two ounces may be made into a pint of decoction, with strong pressure of the dregs, and given in doses of a fluid ounce every hour or two, for dropsical cases and antispasmodic purposes. An extract may be made by evaporating the decoction; but the great sponginess of the leaves requires frequent digestion and very strong pressure to obtain their total strength for this purpose.
